Stamford, CT – Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that Matthew Forker has been named principal of Stamford High School, effective August 4, 2021. Forker is replacing Raymond Manka, who left the district at the end of June after accepting a principal position at New Milford High School.
Forker has been a member of the SHS community for the last 23 years, serving as Assistant Principal for the past 10 years. He began his career as a teacher in the Social Studies Department and coached field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, and golf. He attended Stark, Dolan, and is a graduate of Stamford High School (‘92).
“Matt’s commitment to and knowledge of the SHS community make him the ideal principal for SHS,” said SPS Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero. “I am so excited to see and support Matt in this next step as a leader in SPS.”
Forker holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Seton Hall University and a Master of Arts degree in Education from New Haven University. He earned his 6th Year Certification in Educational Administration from the University of Bridgeport.
