STAMFORD, CT – 25 decorated pianos will be positioned in their new place of residence in Stamford Downtown for the summer of 2021. These pianos are part of Stamford Downtown’s outdoor summer sculpture exhibit, The Piano Project. 25 talented artists have magically transformed the donated pianos into works of art, full of creativity and humor. The 25 pianos will be on display for all to play and enjoy on the streets and parks of Stamford Downtown. Upon completion of the exhibit, the pianos will be auctioned off with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Project Music.
Installation will begin on Tuesday, June 1 and will continue through Wednesday June 2 from 7:30am to 12noon. Their installation is an event in itself and is more than likely to draw a crowd with very curious onlookers as each piano is hoisted from the holding area and transported via an open-air truck to its location amid ongoing activity. A list of the pianos, artists, piano donors and sponsors is attached.
The Piano Project in Stamford Downtown runs June through September.
