The Loft Artists Association is pleased to announce the solo exhibition MARGARET TSIRANTONAKIS 4 Studios: Paintings & Watercolors from September 11 through October 10 with an event to meet the artist on Sunday, September 12, 2pm to 5pm. Facemasks are required in the gallery. Gallery hours: Sat. & Sun. 1pm – 4pm, or by appointment: contact the artist at, mtsiran.arts@gmail.com

This exhibition will include not only recent paintings and watercolors, but earlier work created in studios at each of the Loft Artists Association’s three locations (previous/current) in the South End of Stamford, CT. After being a LAA studio member for 25 years, as of July 2020 Tsirantonakis now works out of her Stamford home studio. This exhibition encompasses work from these four studios.

Throughout the evolution of Tsirantonakis’ work, color has remained a priority to her. Color relationships and their interactions, as well as the sensation and translation of feeling into color, are central to her artistic expression.

Her recent work, including paintings and watercolors done during the Covid quarantine, continues her focus on color inspired by the garden and flora around her home during the different seasons. She uses expressive brushwork, gestural mark-making, and layering with “breathing room” to create these vivid works.

Margaret Tsirantonakis was born in Crete, Greece and emigrated to the United States when she was one year old. She grew up in Astoria, Queens, NY. From an early age she knew she wanted to be an artist, attending the High School of Art & Design and receiving her BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York City. She has had three solo exhibitions at Prince Street Gallery in Chelsea, New York City and her work has been seen in numerous group exhibitions. Tsirantonakis’ works are included in private collections in the United States, Europe and Japan.

She has lived in Stamford since 1992 and has been a member of the Loft Artists Association since 1993.
