SHADOWS ON THE WALL, a new play by former Stamford Mayor, T. Michael (Thom) Serrani, will be presented as a free reading on Monday night, May 9 in Curtain Call’s Dressing Room Theatre.
Serrani, who also served as a state senator and state representative in CT, set the play at Check Point Charlie over the summer and fall of 1968. This famous crossing point between West and East Berlin – the dividing line between American and Soviet sectors during the height of the Cold War – is the setting for this play which is primarily a dialogue between a young American GI and a Soviet officer.
“I love supporting new works – plays and musicals – and doing presentations like this is the best way for authors to get a feel for how their work is progressing,” said Lou Ursone, Curtain Call executive director. Curtain Call has a history of presenting original works, including the current production of THE LOBBY, also playing in the Dressing Room Theatre through late May.
Directing this reading is Serrani’s long-time colleague, friend, and also former legislator, John Atkin. Atkin – a former CT state senator and representative has directed many shows throughout Fairfield County, but most recently, HAPPY BIRTHDAY at Curtain Call. The cast includes: Ben McCormack, Aaron Newcome. Kevin Thompson and Ursone. “Thom sent me the play to read a while back and I forwarded it to Lou – we both agreed it would be a great opportunity for us all to work on,” said Atkin.
The performance will be held Monday evening, May 9 at 7:00pm in the Dressing Room Theatre, located at The Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, 1349 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT.
