It’s been nearly two years since Curtain Call – Stamford, CT’s award-winning community theatre company – hosted auditions for a musical, but normal operations are finally resuming so they’re getting ready for their 31st season. Auditions for the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, 1776, the first show of their 2021-2022 season, will be held June 20 and 21 at The Kweskin Theatre, 1349 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, 7pm to about 10om each night.
The creative team includes Gordon Casagrande as director, Peter Randazzo as music director and Karen Casagrande as choreographer. (The three worked on Curtain Call’s 2010 production of 1776 as well.) Rehearsals will generally be held Monday through Thursday evenings, 7pm to 10pm, beginning July 26. Performances will be Thursday through Sunday, September 17 through October 9, with a one week hold for a possible extension.

Curtain Call is the non-profit community-based theatre company in residence at The Sterling Farms Theatre Complex in Stamford. Year-round productions and educational workshops for all ages are presented by and for area residents in The Kweskin Theatre and The Dressing Room Theatre. The next show – the musical Nunsense – will play in The Kweskin Theatre, June 3 through 19.
Curtain Call was voted Fairfield County’s BEST LOCAL THEATRE GROUP ten years running in the Annual Readers’ Poll of the Fairfield County Weekly; received The Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2011 and the ACE Award for excellence in 2016.
