Norwalk, CT – The annual appeal is underway for ElderHouse, an award-winning nonprofit organization that serves aging seniors and their caregivers by offering an adult day care center and a family living program.
For over 40 years ElderHouse has provided a caring place for the day for Fairfield County seniors. Their adult day program offers social engagement, activities, nursing care, meals and personal care at an affordable rate. The program provides caregivers with respite and peace of mind and even offers door-to-door transportation service.
ElderHouse’s Adult Family Living program offers guidance and financial support to caregivers, helping them to succeed in providing the best care possible at home. Caregivers receive expert advice on managing daily tasks from ElderHouse experts and are paid a monthly tax-free stipend.
The appeal will raise critical funds for the nonprofit that is a lifeline for many of our region’s older citizens and their families. ElderHouse’s annual Dancing With The Stars fundraiser–the organization’s only fundraiser of the year–did not take place this year, it was canceled for the safety of the community.
In 2021, ElderHouse provided personal attention to 60 frail seniors with memory loss or physical disabilities. It served 9,550 meals/snacks onsite and to homebound seniors, supplied 1,430 hours of respite to caregivers since reopening in August 2020, and provided 1,975 door-to-door rides to and from ElderHouse. All services were provided in 100% compliance with CDC guidelines to keep clients safe.
“As we continue to provide high quality, affordable programs that enhance the quality of life for aging adults and their caregivers, we ask the community to support us at this critical time. The help is needed now more than ever before,” said Denise Cesareo, Executive Director.
